HBCU Awareness Day!
Friendship Baptist Church held it's annual HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Awareness Day on Saturday September 22, 2007. There was an outstanding turnout, with over 1500 middle and high school students from around the North Carolina/South Carolina area.
51 HBCUs along with Army ROTC, Air Force ROTC, and CPCC were represented from the east and west coast, everyone from Howard University to Florida A&M and of course St. Augustine's College.
The program began at 10 am in the church santuary with remarks by Dr. Clifford Jones, Senior Pastor followed by the Keynote Address from Dr. Luns Richardson, President of Morris College, Sumter, SC.

Saint Augustine's College representative Andrea J. Herring along with local alumni Joie Cook and Wil Jones were on hand to answer the many questions from parents, grandparents and prospective students. TerryAnn Williams also stopped by to show her support of this effort.

Vendors were onsite with information about student loans and SAT/ACT requirements. Additional workshops were offered to provide prospective college students with information on obtaining financial aid, as well as, how to choose a college.
As we all know, college is not all academics... A step show was held by greek organizations along with their displays for viewing. Those in attendance actively participated in the various workshops, free food, and Fraternity & Sorority displays. The event concluded at 3:00 pm.
